Nokia 5300 Media Express

The Nokia 5300 XpressMusic is a GSM tri-band hand portable phone supporting GSM 900/1800/1900 or GSM 850/1800/1900 bands with a 240 x 320 pixel active TFT 262k color display, integrated 1.3 Mega pixel digital camera, 3GPP video player/recorder, MicroSD card support, Bluetooth 2.0 and IrDa. The Nokia 5300 XpressMusic is also a Java-enabled phone supporting MIDP Java 2.0 and additional Java APIs.

This is an older phone that is getting distributed as an unlocked generic in 2009.  I bought a couple to use with T-mobile Pay-as-you-go plan.  Without becoming a commercial, I do note that putting a bunch of money into (most all pre-paid plans) brings the cost-per-minute down to our (now ex-) long distance land-line subscription.

If you rename a *.nth file to .zip it will will open in any application that handles zipfiles, somthing like 7-zip doesn't even require renaming it.

After you've screwed things up,

• Soft Reset - Soft Reset will clear errors by restoring Factory settings. To operate this function on your mobile, the shortcut is: *#7380# This function works on almost all Nokia mobile phones.
• Hard Reset - If errors still exist after soft reset try this hard reset:
1. Enter the code: *#7370# and press Yes to confirm initialization. Important Notice: It is recommended that you save all important information on your phone (e.g: memo, contacts etc)
2. To make a Hard Reset on a Nokia phone that is not willing to turn on, just press simultaneously these three buttons: on/off + * + 3
